Project Citizen

During the past three days a group of 5 students from grade 9 went to the US embassy to participate at the Project Citizen. In Project Citizen:

  • Students develop skills to identify public problems.

  • Students investigate the problem through primary and secondary research for existing and actually identify the different causes and affective factors.

  • Students locate and evaluate public policies and laws related to this problem and then design a systemic solution to solve the public problem, especially if it involves the creation of new laws / ordinances or revision of existing ones.

  • Students present convincingly the solution to a mayor or a public officer to approve this.

  • Students typically identify issues related to transportation, crime, recreational areas, public health and environment (such as landscaping or animal welfare).
